At IAVA: Jerritt Lynn joined the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America team in July of 2025. As the Director of Membership Services, Jerritt serves the organizational mission by leading the Membership team with building, recruiting, and training the IAVA Cavalry. Jerritt believes that those of us who have served in conflict regions, particularly during the Global War on Terrorism, have unique experiences and an obligation to advocate for policies that address the challenges affecting both veteran and civilian communities. By shaping public policy, we can improve the lives of veterans and ensure their sacrifices are honored.
Professional Background: Jerritt is a U.S. Army veteran with over 20 years of service, including 14 years in Special Operations and nine overseas deployments across the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Indo-Pacific. As a Civil Affairs leader and planner, he led complex operations involving humanitarian assistance, interagency coordination, and multinational training. In northern Jordan, he led civil-military efforts in refugee-hosting communities, partnering with UNHCR, USAID, and local officials to enhance access to education, water, and essential services, thereby strengthening local governance and fostering long-term stability. In Afghanistan, he executed District Stability Platform (DSP) activities that supported development-driven stabilization, including infrastructure rehabilitation, vocational training, and community engagement projects designed to counter insurgent influence and reinforce the legitimacy of local governance. Jerritt’s work consistently delivered measurable impact in politically sensitive and conflict-affected environments.
More about Jerritt: Academically, Jerritt is pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy with a concentration in Foreign Policy from Liberty University. He currently holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University and a Graduate Certificate in College Teaching from the University of North Dakota. He has contributed to national security and foreign affairs discourse through published works with NSI, Small Wars Journal, and other defense-focused platforms. His writing explores themes such as U.S. foreign assistance policy, civil-military relations, and national security strategy, grounded in both field experience and academic research.
