USAA President and CEO
Wayne Peacock is the president and chief executive officer of USAA. Founded in 1922 as an insurance association serving military families, USAA is one of America’s leading financial services companies, offering insurance, banking, and investment and retirement solutions to its more than 13.5 million members. The company is headquartered in San Antonio, with offices in the U.S. and Europe, and owns more than $200 billion in assets.
With more than 35 years of service to USAA, Wayne is committed to serving the military community and their families. Wayne joined the association in 1988 in its real estate investment subsidiary and has served on the Executive Council since 2006. Prior to becoming CEO in February 2020, Wayne was president of USAA’s Property & Casualty Insurance Group, the fifth-largest auto insurance carrier and fourth-largest homeowners insurance carrier in the U.S. During his tenure at USAA, he has led teams across the organization, including contact centers, information technology, shared services, strategy, marketing and communications, security and corporate real estate.
USAA ranked 103rd on the 2024 FORTUNE 500® list and 23rd on the FORTUNE World’s Most Admired Companies list. It was recognized on the 2024 VETS Indexes Employer Awards list as a 5-Star Employer and as a Military Friendly® Employer every year since the list’s inception. True to its mission, USAA leads and inspires actions that benefit the military community, and most of its philanthropic giving is directed toward military causes. In 2023, Wayne championed USAA’s launch of Face the Fight™, a social-impact initiative that includes a coalition of corporations, foundations, nonprofits and veteran-focused organizations committed to veteran suicide prevention.
Wayne is a member of USAA’s Board of Directors and vice chair of USAA’s Federal Savings Bank Board of Directors, and he extends his expertise to a number of external organizations. He is a member of the Business Roundtable (BRT), an association of CEOs at America’s leading companies, and he serves as a board member for the American Property Casualty Insurance Association. Wayne is also vice chair of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Board of Directors, a member of the CNBC CEO Council and serves as an advisory board member at The Fuqua/Coach K Center on Leadership and Ethics (COLE) at Duke University. He is also active in the San Antonio community, with a focus on workforce development and downtown revitalization, and is a proud Eagle Scout.
Wayne graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and has completed executive education programs at Harvard, Duke and Stanford.
