Tiffany outside of the military:

I am a wife, mother of 2, and singer. I can be found performing the National Anthem all over locally (professional sporting events, military events, etc.) I am also an avid crossfitter and weightlifter. I enjoy being involved in my local veteran community, discussing with our local chapter of AUSA where I am a board member. I love hanging out with my family, as well as finding new things to enjoy.

Tiffany on joining the IAVA Cavalry:

I am joining the Cavalry because I believe in advocating for my fellow veterans. We have so many unique stories and situations, and we need to have each other’s six! I feel that my unique story will be a benefit to IAVA’s mission.

How the military experience affected Tiffany’s personal growth:

My time in the military instilled in me a sense of purpose. I have always been one to want to help, but the military made it even more of a driving force in my life. The experiences I was able to have and the opportunities I have been given through my time in service is something I want to repay to my community and my fellow veterans.

IAVA’s policy priorities that are the most pressing:

I honestly feel that everything IAVA has as a priority is pressing, but the biggest policy I find that stands out the most is alternative therapies. There has been so much research that supports using alternative therapies to help with some of the biggest issues that veterans face, such as PTSD and mental health. I think it is imperative we find other ways to combat these serious mental health issues. We’ve tried things the same way for years at the expense of our nation’s veterans. We are losing them at alarming rates and it needs to be fixed! By trying a more holistic route, I feel we could truly find the breakthrough we so desperately need.

IAVA’s policy priorities with the strongest personal connection for Tiffany:

For me personally, my biggest connection is to gender equality, and that starts with including women in the selective service. We fought so hard to be included in combat arms (I personally wanted to be in the Infantry, but when I joined that wasn’t allowed). I feel including women in the selective service is a step in making it an equal playing field. If men can serve and need to register, then women should, as well. We want to be equal, so that means equality in all aspects of service, including the parts that aren’t by choice.
