Senator Elizabeth Dole
Senator Elizabeth Dole is a groundbreaking public servant and a steadfast champion for America’s military families. After making history as the first woman to serve as U.S. Secretary of Transportation and Secretary of Labor, and later leading the American Red Cross, she turned her lifelong commitment to service toward one of the most overlooked groups in the military community: caregivers.
In 2012, she founded the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to supporting military and veteran caregivers. Through groundbreaking initiatives like the Hidden Heroes campaign, the Campaign for Inclusive Care with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Hidden Helpers Coalition for caregiver children, Senator Dole has brought visibility, resources, and national policy change to those who care for our wounded warriors at home.
Her leadership has inspired bipartisan action, strengthened support services, and created a lasting network of care for families across the country. For her tireless advocacy and transformative impact, we are proud to honor Senator Elizabeth Dole with deep gratitude for her service, not only to the country, but to those who serve it.
