Joshua (Concord, NH) This will be my second “Storm the Hill.” I first Stormed in 2013 to “End the VA Backlog.” This year, I’m excited to be returning to “Recognize and Improve Services for Women Veterans.” I couldn’t think of a more timely mission. In the Air Force, we train to take care of each other and to always be a good “wingman.” The “wingman” concept, does not just keep us safe in the air but is embodied in our culture of mutual support and mutual respect at all times. Being a good wingman, reminds me of a part in the Airman’s creed, which states “I will never leave an Airman behind.” This is why I’m Storming again. On active duty, I never left my wingman and now that I’m a veteran, I don’t plan on starting now. I have personally benefited from many of the programs that IAVA has advocated on behalf of, such as the Post 9/11 GI Bill, which I used to attain my law degree from Duke Law School. To that end, I’m always looking to pay it forward. Storm the Hill 2017 is my chance.
