Connor outside of the military:
I’m a husband and father to 3 amazing kids. I’ve helped families buy and sell real estate in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area for 5 years. Avid golfer and fitness enthusiast. I like to make people laugh and try new things!
Connor on joining the IAVA Cavalry:
I’m joining IAVA Cavalry because of the work I’ve seen them do in the past. I want to advocate for the struggles of my generation of veterans in this constantly changing world. IAVA has done a fantastic job of finding a successful blueprint for veterans like me to do just that.
How the military experience affected Connor’s personal growth:
My military experience has become a major influence in the person I am today. Without the structure and confidence it instilled in me I don’t believe I would be in the same positions today.
IAVA’s policy priorities that are the most pressing:
The most pressing IAVA policy to me is Alternative Therapies because I believe in the safer more suitable options of therapies for veterans, such as cannabis, when they are struggling with a variety of mental health issues. Without these options I think they will continue to abuse alcohol and prescription drugs which only make their issues worse. I think making this a major priority will have the quickest and greatest effect on veterans as whole.
IAVA’s policy priorities with the strongest personal connection for Connor:
I have the strongest personal connection to IAVA Alternative Therapies policy because I’ve seen too many veterans struggling with mental health. It seems veterans abuse alcohol and prescription drugs when times get hard because of the ease of access, but I firmly believe in the safer more sustainable options such as cannabis. My best friend from the service took his life after getting out so I do feel it’s my duty to help anyway I can.
