Read: IAVA Supports Veterans, Not Politicians
We understand it’s a crazy political year, but we won’t stand for campaigns attacking our credibility to avoid answering for their candidates.
IAVA has been a trusted, fiercely non-partisan voice for post-9/11 veterans for over 12 years. Anyone who knows anything about the veterans community knows that. And we are extremely proud of our record of historic impacts and our best-in-class veterans support programs. A summary of our most recent year of transformative, critical outcomes is here.
In 2015, we reached a record 439,269 veterans nationwide through in-person and online programs — while maintaining top ratings from leading nonprofit reporting agencies, GuideStar and Charity Watch.
IAVA’s global membership of over 400,000 is extremely inclusive and diverse and includes veterans of all political stripes, as noted in our recent Annual Membership Survey. For over a decade, IAVA has worked with Republicans, Democrats and Independents—while holding two Presidents, multiple VA Secretaries, and all elected and appointed leaders accountable. We stand with veterans, not with any partisan agenda or political party. From the New GI Bill to the VOW to Hire Heroes Act to the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act, IAVA has been the leader in advocating for veterans, working across the aisle and getting things done.
IAVA is trusted by Republicans and Democrats, the Department of Defense and the VA, and is a member of The Military Coalition, which is comprised of 31 organizations representing more than 5.5 million members of the uniformed services–active, reserve, retired, survivors, veterans–and their families. You can see over a decade of policy, public awareness and legislative victories here.
Like few other groups in America, IAVA recently attended both the RNC and DNC, and IAVA members have worked on both side of the aisle. Former IAVA staff leaders are currently working on and advising both the Clinton and the Trump campaigns. We are all united in our support for veterans above anything else.
IAVA has refused to take any donations from any candidate running for President–no matter what party they represent. We will not be used as props to further any partisan agenda. Our board of directors, staff and donor community is extremely diverse. Republicans, Democrats and everyone in between have supported IAVA’s essential work for veterans. IAVA has always been committed to financial transparency and our 990 and other financial filing information is always posted online here and our most recent Annual Report is available here.
Throughout this election campaign, we will continue to hold all sides accountable and serve our fellow veterans–no matter what kind of attacks come our way. And after this election season is over, and everyone has moved on, we will still be doing the same.
We encourage all patriotic Americans to join us and be a part of the #VetsRising movement at www.IAVA.org.
