IAVA Sprints to the End of 2022

As we close out 2022, our work is far from done as we continue fighting for the veteran community! We’re pushing hard to advocate for the passage of the Afghanistan Adjustment Act, which will provide a pathway to permanent residency for our Afghan allies who have resettled in the U.S. and would also fix current challenges associated with the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program…Learn more here

Fortunately, veterans’ homelessness has been reduced in recent years, but we still have more work to do. IAVA has been working to pass the Building Solutions for Veterans Experiencing Homelessness Act, which would strengthen programs that emphasize permanent solutions to housing instability and homelessness experienced by veterans. IAVA’s Kaitlynne Yancy will testify before the House VA Committee on these provisions and more on December 6 at 10 am ET…Tune in here.

The Honoring Our PACT Act delivers new unprecedented benefits to veterans who have suffered from toxic exposures while deployed is now law. However, a big job still needs to be done in implementing the new programs. IAVA will continue working with the VA and DoD to ensure extensive outreach so that veterans, servicemembers, and their families are educated on how to enroll in the new benefits. IAVA’s Tom Porter will submit testimony to the House VA Committee, which will hold a hearing at 10 am ET on December 7…Tune in here.

The holidays can be difficult, and we want to remind all veterans and family members that IAVA’s Quick Reaction Force (QRF) is here 24/7 to provide peer support and connections to quality resources, regardless of the need. Call 855-91RAPID or visit us online at www.quickreactionforce.org.

IAVA is the voice for the post-9/11 veteran generation. With over 425,000 veterans and allies nationwide, IAVA is the leader in non-partisan veteran advocacy and public awareness. We drive historic impacts for veterans and IAVA’s programs are second to none. Any veteran or family member in need can reach out to IAVA’s Quick Reaction Force at quickreactionforce.org or 855-91RAPID (855-917-2743) to be connected promptly with a veteran care manager who will assist. IAVA’s The Vote Hub is a free tool to register to vote and find polling information. IAVA’s membership is always growing. Join the movement at iava.org/membership.
