TAKE ACTION
IAVA cannot do our work without your help. Please let your representatives know how important these issues are to you and to the veteran community.
PASS THE MAJOR RICHARD STAR ACT
Disabled veterans are being “taxed” for their injuries when the DoD deducts retirement pay for veterans injured in combat and forced to medically retire before reaching 20 years of service. Conflating disability compensation and retirement pay to force deductions in retirement pay is disrespectful toward disabled veterans.
IAVA urges Congress to end this unjust denial of retirement benefits. Tell Congress to pass the Major Richard Star Act (S. 344/ H.R. 1282) and repeal this unfair offset for those disabled veterans who are medically retired due to injuries sustained in combat.
EMPOWER VETERANS WHO WANT TO USE MEDICAL CANNABIS
88% of IAVA members surveyed support the additional research of medical cannabis to help them face war injuries such as PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. IAVA is dedicated to fostering a national conversation on the need for bipartisan, data-based solutions that can bring relief to millions.
We need YOU to urge Congress to enact the bipartisan VA Medicinal Cannabis Research Act (S. 326/ H.R. 1003) so the VA can conduct research into the efficacy of medical cannabis as a treatment for veterans with chronic pain, PTSD, and other conditions.
