IAVA celebrated new life-saving provisions in the NDAA for 2021

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021 became law on January 1st, 2021, and is incredibly important as it includes numerous life-saving provisions, from increased mental health care for National Guard and Reservists, to focused pandemic care for those exposed to burn pits and other toxic exposures.

IAVA key priorities are in the NDAA for 2022

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022 was signed into law on December 27th, 2021, and a number of KEY PRIORITIES for post-9/11 veterans were included in this omnibus legislation. Of particular note:

  • A Global War on Terrorism Memorial will be built on the National Mall.T
  • he Afghanistan War Commission Act authorizes an investigation of US involvement in Afghanistan.
  • Changes to US military law will improve the justice system for victims of military sexual assault and other serious crimes.

While much work still needs to be done to strengthen these provisions, they are significant victories to be celebrated!
