The Timeline Covers IAVA’s Impact on the Veteran Community and a History of Groundbreaking Initiatives

New York, NY – Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) launched a tracker of their nearly two decades of progress on advocacy for post-9/11 veterans. Featured on their website, the timeline highlights core IAVA-backed initiatives that have helped empower the veteran community since 2004. From expanding veteran access to healthcare to creating legislative impact, the timeline shows IAVA’s legacy of commitment to our nation’s heroes.

“2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for our country. Amid our challenges, it has been exceedingly heartening to reflect on the collective progress of our entire veteran community in empowering its brave members. I am proud of the work IAVA has done over the past 16 years, and this year especially, to advocate for the needs of veterans under unprecedented challenges,” said Jeremy Butler, CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “In response to the pressing need for crisis support exacerbated by COVID-19, we developed the Quick Reaction Force (QRF). QRF is a comprehensive referral care system that provides easy access to resources and information for all veterans and their family members to safely navigate difficult times.”

Since its establishment in 2004, IAVA has fiercely advocated for the needs of the post 9/11 veteran community. It successfully supported the passing of several landmark pieces of legislation, including the Deborah Sampson Act and the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act. IAVA’s flagship program the Quick Reaction Force, which launched earlier this year, provides 24/7 confidential peer to peer support, comprehensive care management and resource connections for any kind of assistance a veteran might need.
