New York, NY –  On Monday, March 22nd, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) will kick off their annual Virtual Fly-In Event. Each year, IAVA’s Member Advocates meet with Representatives and Senators to discuss the issues that matter most to post-9/11 veterans. For the first time, the event will be held virtually, safely connecting IAVA members from across the country to Congress through Zoom, Facebook Live and other digital platforms.

“After the changes brought about from the COVID-19 pandemic and the presidential transition, our country is in critical need for our government to work better for us and for us to advocate for the needs of post-9/11 veterans,” said Jeremy Butler, CEO of IAVA. “IAVA’s members will be speaking directly to Congress on the impact of burn pits and toxic exposures, the ever growing suicide and mental health crisis, the pressing need to address and implement substantial policy change for women veterans, the importance of accessible and safe healthcare, and more.”

IAVA leadership including CEO Jeremy Butler will be joined by a team of longtime IAVA members to meet with prominent members of Congress and officials from the VA and Department of Defense. Videos of the event will be recorded and available on IAVA’s website and social media channels.

IAVA is the voice for the post-9/11 veteran generation. With over 400,000 veterans and allies nationwide, IAVA is the leader in non-partisan veteran advocacy and public awareness. We drive historic impacts for veterans and IAVA’s programs are second to none. Any veteran or family member in need can reach out to IAVA’s Quick Reaction Force at quickreactionforce.org or 855-91RAPID (855-917-2743) to be connected promptly with a veteran care manager who will assist. IAVA’s The Vote Hub is a free tool to register to vote and find polling information. IAVA’s membership is always growing. Join the movement at iava.org/membership.
