As Congress Debates Future of VA, IAVA Provides Testimony on Behalf of Post 9/11 Veterans

WASHINGTON, DC (October 24, 2017) — Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the leading voice of the Post-9/11 generation of veterans, submitted testimony to the House Veterans Affairs Committee (HVAC) on recent proposals on veterans health care, including “Choice” and the “Veteran Coordinated Access and Rewarding Experiences (CARE) Act.” As the debate about the future of VA care becomes increasingly politicized, IAVA’s non-partisan testimony includes a continued push toward a holistic view of the future of VA health care, addressing how to best support and improve VA facilities and care to serve veterans. It also reaffirms IAVA’s commitment to stand with our brothers and sisters in the Veterans Service Organization (VSO) community, especially those whose members currently rely on VA’s unique care and could be most negatively impacted by any experimental changes.

Later this week, IAVA will roll out our groundbreaking 8th Annual Member Survey on Thursday, October 26. This extensive research product is the most comprehensive non-governmental survey of Post-9/11 veterans in America. The survey includes new and important data on VA health care, experiences with the “Choice” program, community care and much more. Media can RSVP for a Facebook Live presentation by following IAVA on Facebook here
