  • SHOW ME Customize your personal fundraiser page by telling your story.
  • SHOW ME Personalize your email and social media outreach as much or as little as you want.
  • SHOW ME If you’re on Facebook, connect your IAVA Fundraiser to your Facebook account.
  • SHOW ME Download a list of useful tips that will help you maximize your fundraising efforts.
  •
    That’s it!

    LET’S DO THIS!

    STEP ONE: Choose a campaign

  • IAVA fundraising campaigns have different themes. From time to time we may have more than one campaign running. Click on an image below to learn more about our current campaign(s). Then select the fundraiser that resonates with you.

STEP TWO: Choose your fundraising commitment

    #ThisDayMatters Peer-to-Peer Fundraiser

  • The #ThisDayMatters peer-to-peer fundraising campaign is specifically intended for individual fundraisers. It’s the easiest way for one person to make a big difference! Simply click on “Become a Fundraiser” and start your campaign to support IAVA’s work for veterans.
  • #ThisDayMatters Step2 TDM1
  • Now it’s time to “Create your page.” This screen may be the most important, so make sure you complete this step fully.
  • If you’re fundraising in honor of someone or a special event, make sure you check the available box to have that option visible during setup.
  • #ThisDayMatters Step2 TDM2
  • While setting a fundraising goal may be optional, we highly recommend that you set a goal for your campaign. Not only will it motivate you, but it will also inspire your friends and family to help you reach that goal!
  • If you’re fundraising in honor of someone or in recognition of a significant life event, put that information in the blank for “Name of who you are honoring.” THIS WILL BECOME YOUR FUNDRAISER PAGE NAME.
  • Give your fundraiser an end date. We recommend sharing your end date with your network as you fundraise. It will inspire them to help you reach the goal line.
  • You even have the option to create a custom short URL link directly to your fundraiser! Helpful tip: Make this personal, and keep it short to make it easy for everyone to remember.
  • #ThisDayMatters Step2 TDM3
  • Choose a photo to represent your campaign. This will be the first thing your donors see, so give them something appealing. A picture of you or your honoree smiling is just perfect!
  • #ThisDayMatters Step2 TDM4
  • And just like that, your basic fundraising campaign is set up! Click “Go to page” to see your results. But don’t stop here. There are many ways you can customize your fundraiser. The more personal you make it, the more your friends and family will be inspired to help you!
  • STEP THREE: Personalize your fundraiser

  • Generic fundraising pages are already provided for you, but we encourage you to customize your pages to better engage your social network with your efforts.
  • As a FUNDRAISER, you’ll want to at least include a picture of yourself and a personal message to your network. A personal story is a great way to connect with your friends and family. Let the handy wizard take you through the steps!
  • Every one of us has a story to tell, and your friends and family want to hear yours. This is your chance to make your case for veterans and IAVA.
  • And don’t miss the great editing tools available to help you tell your story. Easily add pictures and EVEN VIDEOS!
  • If you’ve skipped over any steps, you can always go back and edit. The “Details” tab is the most important with specifics about you and your fundraising goal.
  • As a TEAM LEADER [option not available in all campaigns], you can personalize your team page the same way, with pictures and a personal perspective on what IAVA means to you and your team.
  • Once your fundraiser is set up, you always have access to revise your page. Just sign into the campaign with your original link or log in at iava.org/my-donor-account and look for your personalized menu options in the top banner.
  • STEP FOUR: Customize your messaging

  • A key factor in successful fundraising is finding the right way to ask for support. Only you know the best way to connect with your friends and family, and this is the step where you can really make it your own.
  • The “Emails” tab allows you the flexibility to write your own copy or just cut/paste the template we’ve prepared for you.
  • STEP FIVE (optional): Connect to Facebook

  • Now we give you the opportunity to extend your reach to include Facebook friends near and far, intimate or distant. It is SO easy to connect your Facebook account. Don’t miss the opportunity to SUPERCHARGE your fundraising success!
  • The hard work is done for you when you click “Create”. Facebook automatically takes the details from your IAVA fundraising page and creates a Facebook fundraiser with your words.
  • It’s IMPORTANT that you let IAVA’s donation system manage the fundraiser on your Facebook page. This simply allows your fundraising success on Facebook to be credited toward your IAVA fundraising goal. Facebook will display the notices below before you continue to your Facebook page.
  • And just like that, your Facebook fundraiser is up and running! Revise it, share it, and comment on it just as you would any other Facebook event.
