Read: Zadroga Still Expected in Omnibus

IAVA has been told by multiple sources that the omnibus FY 2016 legislation is expected to be released some time tonight. As previously reported, House and Senate leadership have pledged to include the Zadroga Act in the measure. We will provide an update once we receive further info.

House and Senate negotiators have been discussing a handful of controversial riders, but have not come to agreement as early this evening. It is noteworthy that these negotiations seem to be largely free of public partisan finger pointing that has been a hallmark of fights in previous years. All of this will likely lead to another short-term funding CR that Congress will pass tomorrow.

Last night, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) signed on as the 68th Senate cosponsor. The IAVA Team met with his office recently to make the case for Zadroga. The House bill saw no change in its 272 cosponsors.

These are very impressive numbers, and are without a doubt an example of the the impact that the IAVA Legislative Team has had on Zadroga advocacy and hopeful success.

How you can help: IAVA has set up a “Take Action” web page, to be updated daily, for our veterans and supporters to ask their Members of Congress to support the bill. The page, iava.org/zadroga, lists all current cosponsors of the measure. If your representatives in DC aren’t yet on the bill, click here to email your members of Congress.
