Trends:
RRRP processed 13 new cases this week and provided 17 new referrals for clients. Legal, suicide and mental health, and financial assistance needs were the top areas clients sought support and assistance with. RRRP connected two clients with the Veterans Crisis Line, a life saving mental health resource. RRRP also had inquiries for assistance with getting connected with quality health care and access to resources for homelessness. RRRP served two new female veterans, one new veteran family member, and two new clients who were homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Clients continue to report a reduction in stress after working with RRRP’s Veteran Transition Managers.

Referral Partner Highlight: Vet Centers
Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that are funded through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and provide a multitude of critical social and psychological services to veterans and families through readjustment counseling including bereavement counseling for families who experience an active duty death. Vet Centers provide services to the following veterans: served in any war zone or area of combat, experienced any form of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) or harassment, provided direct emergent medical care or mortuary services while serving on active military duty to the casualties of war, and members of unmanned aerial vehicle crews that provided direct support to operations in a combat zone or area of hostility.

The goal of the Vet Center program is to provide a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to provide necessary support to successfully readjust to post-deployment civilian life. These amazing services are provided to veterans across the country through a network of 300 Vet Centers located in all 50 states, The District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and Guam. Vet Centers allow veterans and their families easy access to the care they need and deserve and to bypass barriers to accessing that care. All Vet Centers provide services without a time limitation, are free of cost to the veteran and have availability during non-traditional weekday hours and weekends. In addition, in order to receive care at a Vet Center, veterans do not need to be enrolled with a VA Medical Center or have a disability rating and no information will be released without written consent from the veteran, including to the VA. Vet Centers are an invaluable and life-saving resource and RRRP has referred more than 350 clients to this extraordinary resource.
