Trends:
RRRP processed 13 new cases this week and provided 31 new referrals for clients. Employment, legal and financial assistance needs were the top areas clients sought support and assistance with. RRRP served two new clients that were facing homelessness and also had inquiries for accessing mental health support and guidance with VA disability claims. Clients continue to report a reduction in stress after working with RRRP’s Veteran Transition Managers.

Referral Partner Highlight: City Bar Justice Center
City Bar Justice Center’s (CBJC) Veterans Advocacy Project (VAP) provides pro bono legal services to disabled, low-income veterans in New York City with issues related to disability claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). CBJC works with lawyers, law firms, and corporate legal departments to provide legal services and educates the public on important legal issues that impact public policy. VAP has a toll-free intake line that veterans can call to get screened for eligibility and complete an intake. VAP offers a monthly legal clinic to veterans who are eligible for services where volunteer lawyers assist with filing claims and appeals with the VA. VAP has served more than 1,300 veterans and works with 450 trained pro bono attorneys. IAVA’s Rapid Response Referral Program has been working with VAP since its inception in 2012 and has connected 15 veterans in need to this outstanding legal resource.
