Read: From Military Service to Social Service — Vets can Earn an MSW from USC Online

Thanks to a new partnership with the University of Southern California School of Social Work, IAVA Member Veterans may qualify for a $5,000 scholarship to earn their Master of Social Work degree online.

Social workers are important providers of services to veterans and military families, and they’re needed now more than ever. Vets like you are in a unique position to apply your military experience to a career in social work. Nobody is better equipped to help vets when they come home than someone who has walked in their boots. Chances are, you or someone you know received some kind of assistance during your transition home – be it resources for your family, counseling for post-traumatic stress, or help navigating the bureaucracy of your benefits. For that, you can thank a social worker.

The first-of-its-kind MSW@USC program delivers an elite education through an innovative blend of live, face-to-face classes hosted online and real-world field internships in local communities. USC faculty use video conferencing technology, social networking platforms and high-end Hollywood-style vignettes to bring the on-campus experience to students—no matter where they live.

The online program’s academic rigor and admissions requirements mirror USC’s on-campus program. Upon completing the requisite 60 units and 1000 hours of field work, you graduate with the same MSW degree. The only difference is that you can earn your degree without having to move your life to Southern California—not that we’re any strangers to moving, right?

Students have the opportunity to study with renowned USC School of Social Work professors, build wide professional networks, and gain valuable practice experience in the community. The MSW@USC offers a choice of concentrations, including Families and Children; Mental Health; Community Organization, Planning and Administration; Health; or Social Work and Business in a Global Society.

And a sub-concentration in Military Social Work can enhance any area of study. Whether you want to use your MSW to work with veterans or not, plenty of other communities need social workers, too.

We encourage all IAVA members who have an interest in pursuing a career in social work to learn more about the MSW@USC and take advantage of our exclusive $5,000 scholarship offer.

This is an incredible opportunity to continue serving after service—after all, we take care of our own.
