Such a big year for us! Partnerships in Washington and beyond helped magnify IAVA’s impact like never before.

With the Ad Council as a strategic partner, we reached a much broader audience, educating the public on veterans’ issues and facilitating a much-needed national discussion.

IAVA Ad Council Campaign

IAVA partnered with the Ad Council to launch a series of impactful and passionate public service announcements highlighting the resources available for veterans struggling with mental health and transitional challenges.

Post 9/11 GI Bill

IAVA played a lead role in fighting for and passing the Post-9/11 GI Bill, arguably the most important veterans’ benefit for our generation. To date, this landmark legislation has sent more than one million veterans to college. Click below for a detailed timeline.

IAVA Events

Storm the Hill

Storm the Hill is IAVA’s annual program where selected veterans, called “Stormers,” travel to Washington, DC, to meet with lawmakers and advocate for post-9/11 veterans’ issues. Through personal stories, they push for action on key concerns directly with representatives and senators.

Heroes Gala

IAVA’s Heroes Gala is an exciting evening of patriotism and inspiration. It’s our opportunity to recognize some amazing leaders who empower veterans. And it’s been an anticipated mainstay of Veterans Day events and culture for most of our 20 years!

Veterans Day Parade

IAVA marched in the NYC Veterans Day Parade with hundreds of local members.

“ALONE”

In 2008, a new PSA from IAVA and the Ad Council announced CommunityofVeterans.org – the first online social network exclusively for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
