Read: Hurricane Michael: What You Need to Know

Hurricane Michael is shaping up to be one of the pivotal natural disasters of 2018. Right on the heels of Hurricane Florence, the southeastern United States is once again in the crosshairs of a major hurricane and weather event.

Contingency plans have been set in motion, with the Defense Department mobilizing and Department of Veterans Affairs taking action. Below are updates as of Wednesday, October 10th, and a list of resources for those affected by this event.

For Veterans

For those living in Alabama, Florida and Georgia, your local care from VA facilities may be affected. According to the VA, Florida and Georgia have some of the highest populations of veterans by state in the U.S., meaning many will be impacted by this storm. Here’s the latest from the Department of Veterans Affairs:

Unless noted, facilities are operating under normal hours at this time.

Florida

  • Marianna CBOC – Closed until further notice
  • Tallahassee HCC – Closed until Oct. 12th
  • Perry CBOC – Closed until Oct. 12th
  • Eglin OPC – Closed until Oct. 12th
  • Panama City OPC – Closed until further notice

 
Georgia

  • Valdosta CBOC – Closed until Oct. 12th
  • Waycross CBOC – closed until Oct. 12th
  • Carl Vinson VAMC Outpatient Clinic – Closed Oct. 11th
  • Albany OPC – Closed Oct. 11th
  • Brunswick OPC – Closed Oct. 11th
  • Macon OPC – Closed Oct. 11th
  • Perry OPC – Closed Oct. 11th
  • Milledgeville OPC – Closed Oct. 11th
  • Tifton OPC – Closed Oct. 11th

 
Alabama

  • Dothan CBOC – Closed through 10 AM on Oct. 12th
  • Ft. Rucker CBOC – Closed through 10 AM on Oct. 12th
