National Veteran Advocates to Host ‘Pass the PACT ACT Rally DC’ on Memorial Day Weekend With Jon Stewart

May 26, 2022

Washington, D.C. – This Memorial Day Weekend, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) joins other veteran advocates, including Jon Stewart, to hold the “Pass The PACT Act Rally DC” and press event at the widely-attended “Rolling to Remember” demonstration.

This event will highlight the unanimous support from the veteran and family organizations, demonstrated by an urgent call from 65 organizations for the Senate to pass the bipartisan Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. It has already passed the House.

The bill will finally establish VA healthcare and disability benefits for those who have suffered military toxic exposures while deployed and will set a new framework for establishing presumptive illnesses in the future.

WHO:IAVA, along with several veteran advocates, including Jon Stewart, host of The Problem with Jon Stewart on Apple TV+.
Additional speakers will include representatives from AMVETS, VFW, DAV, MOAA, ROA, VVA, Wounded Warrior Project, Fealgood Foundation, and Burn Pits 360.

Last year, the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2021, or Honoring our PACT Act, was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives to conclusively address toxic exposure as a cost of war. This critical bipartisan legislation has the support of 65 Veterans Service Organizations. In March, the Honoring our PACT Act passed in the House with a broad bipartisan vote and moved on to the U.S. Senate.
