Tell us a little about you outside of the military:

Outside of the military, I work in the real estate industry. I have my real estate license, invest in real estate, and serve as a Realty Specialist with the Air Force.

Why are you joining the IAVA Cavalry?

I believe that if you are in a position to help others, you should. IAVA is a great vehicle for me to assist fellow veterans who may feel lost, struggle with depression or suicide, are seeking their purpose, or are looking for guidance from those who have similar experiences.

How did your military experience shape you to be the person you are today?

The military instilled in me discipline and organization, skills that have been crucial in achieving goals I might not have otherwise reached. Additionally, the Post 9/11 GI Bill provided me with educational opportunities that have significantly contributed to my academic and professional success.

Which one of IAVA’s policy priorities do you believe is the most pressing? Why?

While all of IAVA’s policy priorities are important, I feel particularly drawn to two: combating suicide among troops and veterans, and supporting injuries from burn pits and toxic exposures. My personal experience with the PACT ACT and the VA process has highlighted the need for greater exposure and support for toxic exposure issues. However, I feel a stronger connection to the campaign to combat suicide. Having lost friends to suicide and struggling with it myself, I believe that preventing suicide is critical; without it, no other policy priorities will matter.

Which one of IAVA’s policy priorities do you have the strongest personal connection to? Why?

I have the strongest personal connection to the campaign to combat suicide among troops and veterans. This is due to my own struggles and the loss of friends to suicide, which deeply impacts my commitment to this cause.
