Dennis outside of the military:

I am a husband, father and die-hard Phila sports fan (GO BIRDS). My youngest daughter is currently enlisted in the U.S. Army. She’s following in the footsteps of her great-grandmother who served in The Six Triple Eight during WWII. I was a part of the advocacy team that secured the Congressional Gold Medal for the unit.

I am the founder and President of the Greater Phila. Area Veteran Chamber of Commerce, an organization designed to promote the growth, welfare and access of the Veteran business community in this area.

Dennis on joining the IAVA Cavalry:

I am a huge fan of our democracy. I think it is the defining principle of our society. I’m motivated about advocating for the return of democracy as the central tenet of our republic.

How the military experience affected Dennis’s personal growth:

My family is four generations strong in the military. My grandparents served in War II. My daughter is serving now. I can’t imagine a world without this institution in it.

IAVA’s policy priorities that are the most pressing:

Democracy, closely followed by reproductive care access and selective service. My children mean everything to me and these priorities are of vital importance to their futures.

IAVA’s policy priorities with the strongest personal connection for Dennis:

Democracy, for the reasons stated above. I cannot impress upon you enough the need I feel for restoring this principle to the American way.
