Tell us a little about you outside of the military:
-
- I live in southeastern Wisconsin and enjoy spending quality time with my family and dogs. My kids have turned me into an amateur athletics fan, as I love watching them participate in cheer, soccer, football, and lacrosse. Whether at home or traveling, I actively seek opportunities to get out of my comfort zone because I believe you don’t grow where you are comfortable. I’m also active in my church, serving as a member of one of the service teams, which allows me to connect with others and give back to the community.
Why are you joining the IAVA Cavalry?
-
- I am joining the IAVA Cavalry to advocate for meaningful policy changes that support veterans. I believe I am at my best when serving others, and my focus is on driving reforms and initiatives that make a real difference. By leveraging my experience and passion, I aim to help shape a better future for those who have served.
How did your military experience shape you to be the person you are today?
-
- My military service instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and leadership, where accountability, service to others, and a commitment to team success became core values. I find fulfillment in fighting for my brothers and sisters, advocating for their rights and well-being, and ensuring that their sacrifices are honored and supported.
Which one of IAVA’s policy priorities do you believe is the most pressing? Why?
-
- For me, the most pressing IAVA policy priority is ensuring that veterans continue to believe in our democracy. As someone who served to protect the values and freedoms that define our nation, I believe it’s essential that veterans maintain faith in the democratic process. This belief is foundational to preserving what we fought for, and it’s critical to ensuring that veterans’ voices remain strong and influential in shaping the future of our country.
Which one of IAVA’s policy priorities do you have the strongest personal connection to? Why?
-
- The IAVA policy priority I feel the strongest personal connection to is the expansion of alternative treatments for veterans. I believe it’s critical that we provide the VA with all viable treatment options to ensure veterans have access to the care they need. This is especially important in addressing the tragic suicide crisis among service members, where traditional approaches may not always be enough. Exploring alternative therapies could save lives and improve the overall well-being of our veteran community.
