In February, as IAVA’s Research Director, I was asked to deliver a speech at the VA’s summit on mental health – “Preventing Veteran Suicide: A Call For Action.” In my remarks I called on the VA to elevate the existing suicide prevention office to the level of the secretary — an action that was later carried out this month.
