Veterans Join Former President at Bush Institute Stand-To
WASHINGTON, DC (June 23, 2017) — Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the leading post-9/11 veterans empowerment organization, will join Former President George W. Bush for The Bush Institute ‘Stand-To’. IAVA Board Chairman and Army Veteran Scott Feldmayer, and Research Director Dr. Jacqueline Maffucci, Ph.D., will attend the Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative event to discuss issues facing veterans with key stakeholders in the public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
“IAVA is glad to have the opportunity to be a voice for our over 425,000 members and all Post-9/11 Veterans and to discuss our priorities with leaders in government and the private sector. We are glad that President Bush has dedicated his post-presidency efforts toward ensuring veterans are taken care of,” said Paul Rieckhoff, CEO and Founder of IAVA.
Mr. Feldmayer and Dr. Maffucci will discuss IAVA’s groundbreaking member research and data-driven advocacy work, as well as our top policy priorities, outlined in our Annual Policy Agenda.
Scott Feldmayer
Scott Feldmayer is a serial entrepreneur continuing to support Veterans through government consulting, non-profits, and investing in Veteran led startups. At Barbaricum, he oversees business development and overall corporate growth in addition to executive duties including finance, management, and strategy. Scott served in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Captain and was Airborne Ranger qualified. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Scott is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in finance. He completed executive education in innovation at Harvard. Scott resides in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Jacqueline Maffucci, Ph.D
Jacqueline Maffucci is the Research Director for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to her position at IAVA, Dr. Maffucci spent nearly four years as a consultant to the Pentagon focusing on behavioral health policy for the Army. This included over two years spent on the Army Suicide Prevention Task Force. Among other responsibilities, she acted as the liaison to the Department of Defense research community working to translate research into policy. Additionally, she was Editor in Chief for The Journal of Washington Academy of Sciences from 2010-2013.
Dr. Maffucci currently serves on the National Center for PTSD Education Advisory Board and the Department of Veterans Affairs Women’s Health CREATE Veterans Council and the National Academic Affiliations Council.
Dr. Maffucci has contributed to CNN, the Chicago Tribune, Yahoo! News, The Baltimore Sun, as well as other television, print and radio outlets.
