WASHINGTON, DC (November 14, 2016) – Tomorrow, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) Chief of Staff and Iraq War veteran, Allison Jaslow, will advocate on behalf of IAVA members as a part of the Women’s Policy, Inc. Breakfast Briefing on Capitol Hill. “Returning Home: Health Challenges Facing Women Veterans Following Deployment” is hosted with the Bipartisan Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues and is designed to put the care women veterans receive after returning from deployment to the forefront of the national discussion.

Over 280,000 women have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, but according to IAVA’s recently released comprehensive member survey, only fifteen percent of respondents feel that the general public understands their contributions. Women are the fastest growing segment of the military and veteran population. The number of women veterans will continue to rise as the number of male veterans simultaneously declines over the next five years. The VA has laid a solid foundation in the last decade to improve healthcare for women veterans and it is now time to build on that foundation and bring it to scale.

Jaslow will be presenting alongside Kayla Williams, Director, Center for Women Veterans, Department of Veterans Affairs and Shurhonda Love, Assistant National Legislative Director, DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
