The Power of the Warm Handoff
IAVA’s Rapid Response Referral Program (RRRP) has amassed a vast database of resources and programs we contact to help the veterans when they reach out to us. The names in the database represent more than just phone numbers and addresses; our referral partners are carefully evaluated through meetings, phone calls from provider to provider, and a history of success with shared clients over time.
We ask our partners to adhere to IAVA’s principles of partnership: being client centric, sustainable, innovative, established, responsive, collaborative, respected and culturally competent. We want to know that our partners take this work as seriously as we do. Although service through RRRP is just a click away, we want that service to be as personal as possible. This means connecting a vet with someone we trust, someone we know is helpful, someone who has shown that they work as hard to serve veterans in need as we do. We call it a warm transfer.
It’s not enough to just take our word for it, though; any vet we work with has the opportunity to give us feedback about the programs to which we refer them. As a client, you will receive a referral survey, and we encourage you to take a minute to fill it out and send it back, as we do take your feedback seriously. If we find that a program we send you to doesn’t work, we either don’t send anyone else, or we advocate with that program to make improvements.
Client quote of the week
“Excited to be getting some answers/solutions to our problems.” – from a vet referred to the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center, one of our valued partners.
