RRRP client quote of the week:

“Your support and follow through are unmatched. And you have honestly helped me more than anyone else ever has.”

Trends:
RRRP continues to receive inquiries related to unemployment/underemployment, and requests for legal assistance relating to VA benefits issues and discharge upgrades. RRRP continues to assist veterans seeking assistance utilizing their Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits and VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) services. Emergency financial assistance needs continue to dominate requests, as many clients are struggling with basic need costs like rent, mortgage, utilities, groceries, vehicle repairs, gas, and home repairs. Many clients seeking financial assistance are also inquiring about employment support and report that their financial and employment struggles are directly related to underlying service-connected general health and mental health issues. We continue to be contacted by veterans seeking assistance submitting their initial VA disability claims or upgrades, as well as those seeking access to VA healthcare and mental health services.

Referral Partner Highlight: TexVet
TexVet is an initiative of Texas A&M University Health Science Center and Texas Health and Human Services and was created to help Texas veterans, service members and their families navigate the maze of services available. TexVet recognizes that identifying and accessing the right resources can be an absolutely overwhelming process for those in need of help. TexVet created an online Veterans Services Provider Network (VSPN) to facilitate referrals and leverages technology and relationships with partner organizations to effectively connect veterans with resources including: peer support groups, VA disability claims and benefits, healthcare, legal, employment and financial assistance. TexVet’s structured website and database serves as a hub for accessing resources and a statewide Military Veterans Peer Network (MVPN). MVPN is a group of veteran volunteers that work together to assist veterans in need by offering mutual support, friendship, access to activities and mentorship. TexVet and RRRP have worked closely together since 2014 and RRRP has referred nearly 50 veterans and family members to this comprehensive, top-notch and effective program.
