RRRP client quote of the week:
“I have so much gratitude for you and the IAVA with helping me with this. In the past this would be at the point I would just throw my hands in the air. Your emails have been a motivation to keep going.”
Trends:
RRRP continues to receive inquiries related to unemployment/underemployment, and requests for legal assistance relating to VA benefits issues and discharge upgrades. RRRP continues to assist veterans seeking assistance utilizing their Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits and VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) services. Emergency financial assistance needs continue to dominate requests, as many clients are struggling with basic need costs like rent, mortgage, utilities, groceries, vehicle repairs, gas, and home repairs. Many clients seeking financial assistance are also inquiring about employment support and report that their financial and employment struggles are directly related to underlying service-connected general health and mental health issues. We continue to be contacted by veterans seeking assistance submitting their initial VA disability claims or upgrades, as well as those seeking access to VA healthcare and mental health services.

Referral Partner Highlight: National Veterans Legal Services Program
The National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP) was founded in 1980 and is a non-profit organization that works with veterans to ensure they receive the benefits they’ve earned from injuries sustained during service. NVLSP’s Lawyers Serving Warriors program provides pro bono legal representation for disability issues to veterans from of all eras. Often times veterans wait years for disability claims to come through and many claims are denied and sit in the appeals process for additional time, creating financial havoc on the veteran and their family. NVLSP has the expertise necessary to help and assists with the following: Discharge Upgrades, Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC), VA denials of service-connection for PTSD due to military sexual trauma (MST), Applications to the Physical Disability Board of Review (PDBR) for an increase in the military disability rating to attain a permanent disability retirement, claims before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, Representation to service members being processed through the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) and Applications to Boards for Correction of Military Records (BCMRs) for veterans who were wrongfully discharged for personality disorder or adjustment disorder and for veterans who wish to obtain disability retirement. RRRP has connected over 70 clients to this one of a kind, best in class legal resource that provides legal intervention when often times no one else is able to help.
