Trends:
RRRP processed 12 new cases and provided 34 new referrals for clients this week. RRRP served 2 new clients at risk of suicide and 3 new clients that were facing homelessness. Financial assistance, suicide and mental health, and help navigating the VA disability claims process were the top areas clients sought support and assistance with. RRRP also received requests for assistance related to employment and education needs. Clients continue to report a reduction in stress after working with RRRP’s Veteran Transition Managers.

Referral Partner Highlight: VFW Unmet Needs Program
VFW’s Unmet Needs Program understand the challenges veterans, service members and military families sometimes face and works to intervene to ease the burden of financial hardship. This program assists with unexpected financial difficulties that occur as a result of deployment or other military-related activity or injury and provides financial assistance up to $1,500. Veterans, service members and their families can apply for assistance for mortgage, rent, house repairs and insurance, vehicle payments, insurance and repairs, utilities, food, clothing, diapers, formula, school and childcare expenses and medical bills, prescriptions and eyeglasses. RRRP has been collaborating with VFW’s Unmet Needs Program since 2012 and has referred more than 150 veterans and families to access this life-changing assistance.
