We started the week strong with a full day of advocacy and strategic planning on our campaign to Defend the GI Bill.

Member Advocacy

• Since our email blast last week IAVA members have sent an additional 4,483 messages to Capitol Hill. IAVA members have sent a total of 22,820. Your messages and efforts are an integral part of this fight!

DC Advocacy

• Continued developing new strategic plans to bring attention to the campaign and the need to Defend the GI Bill on all fronts.
• Set up meeting this week with the office of Rep. Tim Huelskamp and we are continuing to schedule meetings with other key offices.

We’ve also asked for clarification from Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on his position to Defend the GI Bill.  Military Times covered a recent CNN interview of Trump, during which he gave conflicting answers to the question of whether he supports cutting the GI Bill to pay for other veteran programs. We’re looking for his clarification and hopeful he will stand with IAVA and its members on this issue to oppose cuts to the GI Bill.
