New York City – Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) CEO Jeremy Butler and Executive VP, Organization Strategy and Engagement, Hannah Sinoway will be joined by Dr. Tim Hoyt, Deputy Division Chief of the Psychological Health Center of Excellence for a Facebook Live event on December 17th to discuss veteran mental health over the course of the pandemic.
“Service members and veterans may be experiencing new or heightened mental health concerns during this difficult year. We’ll discuss how to tell if you or a loved one may be at risk, where to find help, and tips for coping with stress and isolation this holiday season,” said Dr. Tim Hoyt, Deputy Division Chief of the Psychological Health Center of Excellence.
Veteran mental health and suicide prevention is a top priority for IAVA. Earlier this year Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) celebrated the passage of the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act. This legislation makes critical reforms in how America combats the veteran suicide crisis. IAVA also launched its 24/7 comprehensive care management program, the Quick Reaction Force, in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing challenges the veteran community is experiencing.
“These are incredibly challenging times for the veteran community, especially going into the holiday season,” said Jeremy Butler, CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “We want all veterans and their families to have access to necessary information and resources to safely navigate difficult times. Launching our Quick Reaction Force program earlier this year has enabled us to drive that commitment by providing 24/7 support to any veteran or family member in need.”
