New York, NY – Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) highlights their annual #GoSilent campaign to honor the veterans of the U.S. Armed forces who gave their lives for our great nation.
A decade-long tradition, IAVA will hold a moment of silence today at 3:00 PM local time. The organization calls on all Americans to take the pledge to honor the fallen and join in the national moment of remembrance.
“We encourage all Americans to #GoSilent in honor of those who lost their lives while serving our country,” said Jeremy Butler, CEO of IAVA. “Today and everyday, we continue the fight to protect and serve those who risk their lives defending our country. In addition to going silent, we must uplift the voices of veterans and use our platforms to educate the public on how they can support veterans year round.”
As part of its campaign, IAVA is urging participants to help spread the word and “go silent” from their usual social media content and instead use their platforms to uplift and remember the lives of those lost in the U.S. Armed Services.
A #GoSilent social media toolkit for Memorial Day is available at: iava.org/go-silent/#resources.
