New York, NY – On Tuesday, September 28, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) will partner with the League of Women Voters of the City of New York (LWVNY) to host a live event on civic engagement and ways to make a positive change in the community.

Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Butler will be joined by Diane Burrows, Co-President of the League of Women Voters of the City of New York to discuss voting, advocacy and community involvement.

“Civic engagement is one of the many impactful ways veterans can continue to serve once we take the uniform off,” said Jeremy Butler, CEO of IAVA. “IAVA is excited to partner with the League of Women Voters of the City of New York to share the many ways we can all continue to make long-lasting positive change in our communities.”

“We all love to complain about the problems in our communities but we also all know that complaining doesn’t do anything. To really do something requires information, skill, and action,” said Diane Burrows, Co-President, the League of Women Voters of the City of New York. “This presentation will guide you through three strategies that will help you become more civically engaged in your community for every election cycle and all year long.”

Together, they will address the partnership between the LWVNY and IAVA, boosting civic engagement and election participation within the veteran community, and the positive impact of civic action from local to national levels.
