Susan and Richard Selke, parents of Clay Hunt, to join President for signing

Washington D.C. (February 11, 2015) – Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), Susan and Richard Selke, parents of Clay Hunt, and members of Congress will join President Obama as he delivers remarks and signs the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act into law on Thursday, February 12 at 1 p.m. The bill, spearheaded by IAVA, is named after a Marine Corps veteran who died by suicide in 2011. The president will also be joined by veteran service organizations and veteran advocates during the signing ceremony.

“IAVA thanks President Obama and the members of his Administration for holding this ceremony and inviting us into the White House. We are proud to stand with the President as he signs this historic bill into law, allowing veterans to better access the quality mental health care they so desperately need. IAVA is also thankful to have Susan and Richard Selke meet with the President. They have fought tirelessly for months on end for this bill to become a reality, and ensure that not one more veteran experiences the challenges Clay faced when trying to seek help for his invisible injuries. This fight has been an uphill battle, but our IAVA leaders, members, and Susan and Richard remained steadfast throughout the whole journey to make sure no veteran has to cut through bureaucratic red tape when seeking help.”
