New York, NY (October 4, 2019) — Today Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America is taking part in a Town Hall hosted by the National Nurses Union and featuring U.S. Representative Max Rose (D-NY) to discuss implementation of the Mission Act and privatization of Veterans Affairs services.

“IAVA has long stood for the principle that veterans have earned the right to access high-quality healthcare through the VA,” said IAVA CEO Jeremy Butler. “The VA must be the source of accountability for the quality of that care, and should be funding and staffing services accordingly.”

IAVA has served as a watchdog for the past 15 years, holding the VA and the Administration responsible for providing quality healthcare to veterans, regardless of the party in power. The trend toward privatization of the VA has been mired in corruption scandals and has not kept the interests of veterans at its center. This Town Hall serves as an opportunity for IAVA to represent the interests of the post-9/11 generation of veterans, encouraging veterans, Congress, American leadership, and the American people to take these issues seriously and to heart.

The Panel Participants at this town hall are:
Congressman Max Rose, House Veterans Affairs Committee
Lindsay Rodman, Executive Vice President, IAVA
Kristen Rouse, President and Founding Director, NYC Veterans Alliance
John Rowan, National President, Vietnam Veterans of America
Danny Freidman, Brooklyn Chapter 72 President, Vietnam Veterans of America

The Town Hall will be conducted from 5:30-8:30pm on Friday October 4 (tonight) at I.S. 259 William McKinley, 7305 Fort Hamilton Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11228.
