New York, NY – Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), announced its first virtual Veterans Day Parade: IAVA’s Veterans Day Support America’s Veterans (SAV) March. For the past 15 years, IAVA has served as a catalyst for the veteran community to come together to celebrate America’s brave servicemen and women on Veterans Day in person at parades around the country. This year, amid a global pandemic, IAVA is giving Americans across the country an opportunity to support veterans by giving donations to those in need and virtually marching 2,093 miles across the country.
“The global pandemic has presented significant challenges for all Americans, especially the veteran community,” said Sean Ullman, COO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “While we cannot come together to march in their honor, IAVA has launched the first ever virtual Veterans Day Support America’s Veterans March to unite the entire country in support and celebration of America’s servicemen and women this Veterans Day.”
IAVA is using its high-tech, high-touch capabilities coupled with the power of social media to help those who may not be able to join in person by live streaming the parade experience to millions across the United States. While America cannot come together in person to honor our nation’s veterans, IAVA will serve as a guiding light for others to follow as everyone continues to stand tall in support of those who have served the country.
“By pledging just $100 for each mile, citizens of this country can honor our nation’s veterans and help provide IAVA the resources we need to provide critical services to our men and women in uniform,” added Ullman.
IAVA urged supporters to participate by going outside, grabbing a flag, and creating their own community parade experiences. While Americans continue to celebrate this time honored federal holiday, IAVA is giving citizens an opportunity to pledge their support for our nation’s veterans by committing only $100 per mile they walk, run or ruck on Veterans Day.
