As Trump Approaches 100th Day, Veterans Weigh In on the New Administration

Overwhelming Number of IAVA Veterans Want Accountability for War Plans Leak Over Signal & Concerned that Federal Government Cuts Could Impact Veterans Care and Benefits

Washington, DC – Today, in advance of President Trump’s 100th day in office, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America released the results of a survey of our membership that asked about the recent news reports, actions by the new Administration, and the general vibe on a number of issues in 2025.

In the survey we learned that IAVA veterans overwhelmingly (86%) believe that there should be accountability for the leak of classified information over Signal by Administration officials, including more than 3 out of 4 of IAVA veterans that identify as Republican. We also learned that an overwhelming majority of IAVA veterans (81%) are at least slightly concerned that recent federal cuts could impact veteran benefits and health care. And, 1 out of 5 (20%) of IAVA veterans know a veteran who has lost their job due to recent cuts to the federal government.

“It’s clear that IAVA veterans are taking note of the actions of the new Administration,” said IAVA’s CEO Allison Jaslow. “Most want to see accountability for the leak of classified information by Administration officials that made headlines recently, just as they know they’d be held accountable for the same. Many are concerned that cuts to the federal government will impact veterans care and benefits. And a shocking one out of five IAVA veterans knows a veteran who has lost their job due to recent cuts to the federal government as more cuts continue to be considered.”

A full memo outlining the findings of the survey of IAVA veteran members, which received 1402 responses and was conducted from April 11th – April 21st, can be found here.
