As McDonald Faces Confirmation Hearing, IAVA Prepares Member Survey Launch Thursday in DC

WHAT: Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization representing post-9/11 veterans and their families, will launch its 2014 Member Survey on Thursday, July 24 at 12:30 pm EST at the National Press Club in Washington DC. The survey details a range of critical issues – from suicide and mental health, to VA disability benefits, military sexual assault, post-9/11 GI Bill, employment, reintegration challenges and more.

Charlie Cook, political analyst for National Journal magazine and father of a post-9/11 veteran, will moderate the Panel on Veterans and Mental Health/Suicide, which will follow the press briefing, and focus on the Campaign to Combat Suicide, the role of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and future actions needed to give veterans the support they need. Panelists include: Jackie Maffucci, PhD, IAVA Research Director; Terri Tanielian, Senior Social Research Analyst at the RAND Corporation; and Phil Carter, Senior Fellow, Counsel and Director of the Military, Veterans, and Society Program at the Center for a New American Security.
