Army Staff Sergeant Ryan M. Pitts To Receive Medal of Honor
New York, NY (July 21, 2014) – President Barack Obama will award the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award, to former Staff Sgt. Ryan Pitts for conspicuous gallantry. Staff Sgt. Pitts received the Medal of Honor while serving as a forward observer with 2nd Platoon, Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, when Vehicle Patrol Base Kahler, near Wanat Village in Kunar Province.
Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) joins a grateful nation in honoring Staff Sgt. Pitts for receiving the Medal of Honor.
