Amazon ‘Future of Work Summit’ (Live Stream) Headlined by Post-9/11 Veterans
WASHINGTON, DC (November 29, 2017) — Tomorrow, Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the leading Post-9/11 veterans organization representing more than 400,000 members nationwide, will discuss veterans employment at Amazon’s ‘Future of Work Summit’ in Washington, D.C. IAVA’s Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and Iraq Veteran, Melissa Bryant, will speak on a panel convened by POLITICO, The Future of the Workforce: Veterans in the New Economy. Bryant will join POLITICO’s Bryan Bender, Congresswoman and Post-9/11 veteran Tulsi Gabbard, CNAS’ Phil Carter, and Eric Eversole from the US Chamber of Commerce, to discuss harnessing the skills of a new generation of veterans to thrive in the 21st century economy. Bryant will highlight IAVA’s first in class research and data on Post-9/11 veterans and our advocacy priorities laid out in our Annual Policy Agenda.
“At a moment when Congress is debating the future of our tax code, IAVA is glad to have the opportunity to cut through the noise to discuss the future of veteran employment. Post-9/11 veterans are the future of our workforce, and any conversation about the future of work must be a conversation about the future of veterans,” said Melissa Bryant, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at IAVA. “We are still a nation at war. And veterans are still facing uncertainty in the workforce when they come home. Now is the time to address this growing issue in the veteran community and pave the way for real action on behalf of our vets, and we’re grateful to POLITICO and Amazon for highlighting veterans employment in their conversation about the future of work.”
