KEY WINS

Burn Pits and Toxic Exposures

The Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act became law on August 10th, 2022. This vital legislation will finally deliver much-earned VA health care and benefits for servicemembers and veterans with toxic exposures, such as from burn pits.

9-8-8 Lifeline

In July 2022, IAVA applauded the launch of the new 988 Mental Health Crisis Lifeline/Veterans Crisis Line (VCL). This easy-to-remember number allows Americans in crisis to access the help they need.

Military Sexual Assault

Significant new changes to US military law that improve justice outside the chain of command for victims of military sexual assault and other serious crimes were passed within the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Veteran Homelessness

The Building Solutions for Veterans Experiencing Homelessness Act, legislation to permanently cut red tape on VA grants provided to organizations assisting homeless veterans and increase flexibility in assisting this vulnerable population, was introduced in the Senate.

Quick Reaction Force (QRF)

IAVA’s Quick Reaction Force leverages best-in-class research, data, and resources to empower veterans. We believe that national resources are the best path forward for veterans and have partnered with nonprofits who have been vetted to do great work. We use our research to create better lives for veterans nationwide.
