Media Advisory: Post-9/11 Vets to Testify on Veteran Policy Priorities at Joint Congressional Hearing

WASHINGTON (March 15, 2016) – Tomorrow, Wednesday March 16, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) Founder and CEO Paul Rieckhoff will testify before the joint hearing of the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees in Washington, D.C. Rieckhoff will present IAVA’s top policy priorities for Congress in 2016.

With a growing base of more than 425,000 members and supporters, IAVA’s 2016 policy priorities reflect key issues affecting the post-9/11 veterans community. With limited days in session during this election year, IAVA calls for Congress to increase focus for the most pressing issues for the post-9/11 veteran community.

In his testimony Wednesday, Rieckhoff will present the top policy priorities for IAVA in 2016: reducing veteran suicide; investing in the success of women veterans; reforming the VA and DOD for today’s veterans; and, defending veteran and military education benefits.

Representatives from the American Ex-Prisoners of War Organization, Air Force Sergeants Association, Fleet Reserve Association, Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, Military Officers Association of America, National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs, Non‑Commissioned Officers Association and The Retired Enlisted Association.
