IAVA Statement on House VA FY16 Budget Proposal

NEW YORK (April 22, 2015) — Last week, the House Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies, which oversees the VA budget, offered its first draft of the department’s $163.2 billion fiscal 2016 spending blueprint. IAVA released the following statement on the budget plan:

“As the FY2016 funding legislation for VA moves its way through Congress, it is imperative that Secretary McDonald receive both the resources and the flexibility needed to restore the credibility of the Department of Veterans Affairs. While initial numbers from the House are below the Administration’s proposed budget, we are optimistic that moving forward, Congress will fully fund the VA as it did in FY2015. We look forward to working with the Administration and members from both sides of the aisle to provide the VA with the resources it needs to support Secretary McDonald’s vision of a customer-centric VA.”
