IAVA Marks Milestone at the NYC Veterans Day Parade

NEW YORK, NY (November 11, 2019) — Today Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America marched in the organization’s largest-ever showing at the Veterans Day Parade in New York City. The IAVA cohort was among the biggest at the Parade – IAVA had a record 670 registrants.

“Today was a wonderful day,” said IAVA CEO Jeremy Butler. “What an incredible showing of solidarity and camaraderie. I am so honored to be able to lead this amazing organization representing these incredible people.”

Veterans Day is an important opportunity for veterans to come together, and for the nation to show its support and appreciation. IAVA’s members are mostly comprised of post-9/11 veterans. However, IAVA proudly welcomes veterans of other eras and civilian supporters as members.

Today was an opportunity for IAVA to shine a light on its policy agenda. Among IAVA’s top priorities is curbing the veteran suicide epidemic. A shocking 21 veterans a day die by suicide.
