Experienced leader joins IAVA’s executive team as IAVA continues growth

NEW YORK (March 23, 2016) – Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization representing post-9/11 veterans and their families, today announced the appointment of Allison Jaslow as Chief of Staff. Jaslow previously served as IAVA’s Director of Political and Intergovernmental Affairs.

“Allison has been an absolute titan since coming on board with IAVA,” said IAVA Founder and CEO Paul Rieckhoff. “Allison’s command of multidisciplinary operations and her ability to think strategically have already been an asset to IAVA and our members. The chief of staff role will allow IAVA to utilize Allison’s unique leadership experience and ensure IAVA remains the leading post-9/11 veteran empowerment organization for decades to come. Allison was a proven leader on the battlefield in Iraq, and Washington and will now help lead IAVA into our second decade of growth.”

Reporting directly to the CEO, Jaslow will oversee management, operations, administration and all internal functions at IAVA. Jaslow will develop and implement management, accountability and workflow plans across the organization to achieve IAVA’s strategic goals. Jaslow is a former Army Captain who served two combat deployments in Iraq and has a diversity of experience that includes roles on multiple political campaigns, the White House and on both sides of Capitol Hill. She recently served as chief of staff and campaign manager for Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos and was also press secretary for Virginia Senator and Vietnam veteran Jim Webb, where she was involved in the veteran leader’s efforts to protect the legacy of the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

Originally from Northern Virginia, Jaslow graduated from the University of Central Missouri, where she was a proud member of the Fighting Mules ROTC Battalion. She also serves on the Board of Trustees at Wentworth Military Academy and College, where she began her undergraduate study, located in Lexington, Mo.

IAVA is headquartered in New York and has staff in California, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, which includes a mix of veterans and civilians who represent diverse areas of expertise and backgrounds. All IAVA staff demonstrate a deeply personal and professional commitment to the veteran community.
