IAVA Applauds Accountability at VA

Washington D.C. (November 24, 2014)IAVA released the following statement today after the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced Sharon Helman, director of the VA health care facilities in Phoenix, has been fired:

“It’s good to finally see accountability in Phoenix,” said IAVA CEO and Founder Paul Rieckhoff. “We applaud this announcement and Secretary McDonald’s actions. Our veterans deserve accountability and rapid change after the abysmal failures that outraged the nation. However, this is just one step on the long road to restoring trust across the system. We hope to see more people held accountable nationwide and look forward to learning the outcome of multiple ongoing criminal investigations.”
