Matthew Miller

As Chief Policy Officer, Matt provides strategic guidance for and leadership of IAVA’s Legislative, Research, and Political Departments. He is responsible for ensuring that veterans’ issues remain a priority in the political landscape, and that IAVA’s members have a strong voice in DC. He is currently a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves (IRR) and most recently returned from Afghanistan where he served as the Political Advisor in the Election Support Cell at International Security Force (ISAF) headquarters in Kabul. Prior to that he served two tours in Iraq and a civilian tour at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.  Miller also has extensive service in both the Legislative and Executive branches of government  where he has worked for Members of Congress, The Department of Defense, and The U.S. State Department.

Miller has been featured on MSNBC , Fox News, CNN  and contributed to numerous stories related to veterans and military affairs.
