Claire Lawless

As a Senior Veteran Transition Manager, Claire is helping to expand our support efforts to California veterans and provides members and their families with referrals for social service resources for health, education, and employment. Claire earned her M.S.W. from the University of Southern California, focusing on mental health and military social work. Prior to joining IAVA, Claire worked at the West Los Angeles VA conducting research on ways to help veterans and their communities better connect. Claire did her clinical internship at the Hollywood Veteran Center, where she delivered residential mental health services to Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, focusing specifically on grief, trauma, and moral injury. Claire has also worked for the American Red Cross, where she coordinated projects for their Service to the Armed Forces division and provided disaster relief for victims of the 2011 Alabama tornadoes.

Lawless has recently contributed to the Military Times and other veteran and military media outlets.
